A small studio that builds things to last
Red Castle Studio provides IT services, web security, and software development to small businesses, solo founders, and startups. We also own and run two job boards.
The story
The name comes from an idea, not a place. A castle is strong, defended, and built to last. That is how we want the systems we touch to feel: solid foundations, sensible defenses, and nothing that falls over when someone leans on it.
We started by building our own products, civilengineerjobs.net and blueteamjobs.com. Running them taught us what small teams actually need: infrastructure that does not need constant attention, security that is built in rather than bolted on, and software that is fast and easy to change.
We now do the same work for clients.
Our approach
How we are different from an agency
Small
You work with the people doing the work. There are no account managers and no hand-offs to a junior team.
Senior
We have built and run production systems ourselves. We take ownership, write things down, and tell you when something is a bad idea.
Remote-first
We work asynchronously with clear written updates and meet when a call is faster. Location does not matter; response time does.
Security-minded
Security is part of every task: least-privilege access, secrets kept out of code, safe defaults, and changes you can roll back.
Working with independent contractors
When a project needs a specialist we do not have in-house, such as a designer, a mobile developer, or extra hands for a large migration, we bring in independent contractors we have vetted.
- We tell you up front who is working on your project.
- Contractors sign confidentiality terms and follow our security practices.
- They get the minimum access needed, and it is removed when their part ends.
- We stay accountable for the result.
Hours and time zones
We work remotely with clients in different time zones and agree on meeting windows at the start of each engagement.Agreed response times for support clients are written into each agreement.
